In Boston, a young woman discovers she is pregnant while still a virgin, and in Ireland another woman finds herself in the same condition, as epidemics, droughts, famines, and floods overwhelm medical authorities worldwide. Former nun turned private investigator Anne Fitzgerald is hired by the Archdiocese of Boston to investigate the immaculate conceptions and comes to realize both women are in great danger from gathering forces of light and darkness.
