About “Vol de nuit”

Night Flight is the second novel by French writer and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It was first published in 1931 and became an international bestseller. The story draws on Saint-Exupéry's experiences as an airmail pilot and as a director of the Aeroposta Argentina airline. The characters were inspired by people he knew in South America, including Rivière, based on Didier Daurat, the operations director of the Aéropostale. Additional information about the author's experiences can be found in his 1939 memoir, Wind, Sand and Stars.
