About “Westminster Standards”
The Westminster Standards is a collection of religious documents created by the Westminster Assembly between 1643 and 1649. These documents include the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Westminster Shorter Catechism, the Westminster Larger Catechism, the Directory of Public Worship, the Directory for Family Worship, and the Form of Church Government. They reflect the beliefs and church structure of 17th century English and Scottish Presbyterianism. The Confession of Faith and the Catechisms have been accepted as official standards by many Reformed and Presbyterian denominations, but not by the Church of Scotland or its direct descendants.
