A memoir by Cheryl Strayed recounts her journey on the Pacific Crest Trail, a 1,100-mile hike she took alone after experiencing significant personal loss. At twenty-two, she lost her mother to cancer, her marriage ended, and her life fell apart. Four years later, she decided to hike the trail, despite having no prior experience with long-distance hiking or backpacking.
