Wolf Totem is a 2004 Chinese semi-autobiographical novel written by Lü Jiamin under the pseudonym Jiang Rong. The story follows a young student from Beijing who is sent to the countryside of Inner Mongolia in 1967, during the Cultural Revolution. The novel draws on the author’s personal experiences during this time. Lü Jiamin's real identity remained unknown to the public for several years after the book was published.
