About “Woman at Point Zero”
Woman at Point Zero is a 1975 novel by Nawal El Saadawi, published in Arabic in 1977. The story is told through the first-person account of Firdaus, a woman awaiting execution for murder. Firdaus agrees to share her life story, which reflects her experiences within a patriarchal society. The novel is based on Saadawi's encounter with a female prisoner in Qanatir Prison. It examines the role of women and the challenges they face in a male-dominated system. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
