About “Yanzi chunqiu”
The Yanzi chunqiu is an ancient Chinese text from the Warring States period (475–221 BC). It contains 215 stories divided into eight chapters, attributed to Yan Ying, an official from the State of Qi who served Duke Jing of Qi. The first six chapters include remonstrations by Yan Ying to the rulers he served. The seventh chapter presents variations of the stories from the first six. The eighth chapter includes anti-Confucian episodes, which the Han dynasty librarian Liu Xiang, who compiled the version known today, considered inconsistent with the Chinese Classics.
