A Bright New Dawn follows thousands of tiny nomes as they move into the ruined buildings of an abandoned quarry, hoping for a better life. Soon, strange and unsettling changes occur, such as puddles hardening and icy rain falling from the sky. Human workers arrive, planning to re-open the quarry, forcing the nomes to protect their new home. They rely on the help of the monster Jekub to resist the humans. Diggers is the second book in a fantasy trilogy about the nomes, written by Terry Pratchett. The story is imaginative and humorous, focusing on the nomes' struggle to survive in a world dominated by humans.
