About “Toungoo Yazawin”

Ketumadi Toungoo Yazawin is a Burmese chronicle that documents the history of the Toungoo region from 1279 to 1613. A surviving palm-leaf manuscript from 1837 is based on an earlier copy. The text offers only a brief overview of the early rulers, but provides more detailed information about later rulers, beginning with the reign of Min Sithu of Toungoo. This suggests that the chronicle was likely compiled in the late 15th century. The manuscript is an important historical source for understanding the political and cultural history of the Toungoo region. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
