About “Hopeless”

Beau Eaton, a handsome military hero with a tortured past, is the town prince; the narrator is an outcast bartender from the wrong side of the tracks. He is thirty-five, she is twenty-two, and he becomes her fake fiance in a bet that he offers to prove no one holds her family name against her, while she seeks to shed her family's reputation and save money to leave town.
