About “Foundation”
The book is the first in a new trilogy set in the world of Valdemar. It follows a 13-year-old orphan named Magpie who escapes from slavery in the gem mines. He is chosen by a magical Companion horse, which marks him as a potential Herald. The story focuses on his journey as he begins training to become a Herald in Valdemar. The novel was published in 2008 by Mercedes Lackey.
