About “Superfluous women”
In late-1920s England, Daisy Dalrymple Fletcher visits three unmarried school friends who have bought a house together, part of a generation of "superfluous women" left without marriage prospects after the Great War killed many British men. A locked wine cellar is found to hold a long-dead body, making her friends murder suspects.
