This 1981 fantasy novel by Katherine Kurtz was first published by Del Rey Books. It was the sixth of Kurtz's Deryni novels and the third book in her second Deryni trilogy, The Legends of Camber of Culdi, which serves as a prequel to The Chronicles of the Deryni that Kurtz wrote from 1970 to 1973, detailing events two centuries before that trilogy. Kurtz's next series was The Histories of King Kelson, though the internal chronology of the Legends trilogy continues in The Heirs of Saint Camber trilogy.
