About “Dead Romance”
Professor Bernice Surprise Summerfield, known as Benny, is a fictional character created by Paul Cornell for the New Adventures, a series of Doctor Who novels published by Virgin Publishing. These novels continued the story of the Doctor after the television series ended. Benny first appeared in Cornell's 1992 novel Love and War, making her the first original companion character in the series.
