About “Flowers in the Attic”

After their father's sudden death leaves the family destitute, four children are taken by their mother to her estranged parents' sprawling Virginia mansion. There they are hidden away in a locked upstairs room and adjoining attic, told it is only temporary while their mother wins back her wealthy father's favor. As months stretch on under their grandmother's cruel watch, the siblings cling to one another and slowly grasp the cost of being someone else's secret.
