About “The Corpse in the Car”
This is the twentieth book in a long-running mystery series featuring Dr. Launcelot Priestley. The story begins with Lady Misterton, an unreasonable and inconsiderate woman, who asks her chauffeur to walk three and a half miles back to her home to retrieve her forgotten bag. While waiting, she listens to the ominous music of Saint-Saëns' Danse Macabre. Later, she is found dead in the car. Superintendent Hanslet of Scotland Yard investigates but becomes confused, so he calls in Dr. Priestley. When the criminologist joins the case, the investigation takes an unexpected and dramatic turn.
