Dragonsblood is a novel by Todd McCaffrey, the son of Anne McCaffrey, who co-authored Dragon's Kin with her. This book is the first solo work by Todd in the Dragonriders of Pern series. The story follows young dragonrider Lorana, who faces a deadly illness spreading among dragons. The epidemic threatens to leave Pern unprotected as the next Threadfall approaches. A forgotten song points to a solution from five hundred years earlier, when Kitti Ping and her daughter Wind Blossom bred the first dragons from fire-lizards. Wind Blossom, from the past, fears a plague that could destroy the dragons. Though separated by time, Lorana and Wind Blossom become unknowing allies in a race to save Pern from disaster.
