It’s Christmas in Chicago, and Inspector Richard Queen is at a conference on gangland violence. His son, Ellery Queen, an amateur sleuth, is bored until he reads about a beheaded and crucified schoolmaster in Arroyo, West Virginia. Ellery convinces his father to drive east for a mystery. Upon arrival, they learn the victim was an atheist with no obvious enemies. What seems like a cult act soon reveals a larger pattern as more people are killed in the same way across the world. It takes several deaths before Inspector Queen uncovers the clue that solves the case of the Christmas crucifixions. This is a 1932 novel by Ellery Queen.
