About “Iliupersis”
The Ilioupersis, also known as The Sack of Troy, is a lost epic poem from the Trojan Cycle, part of the Epic Cycle that recounted the history of the Trojan War. It follows the Little Iliad and precedes the Nostoi, which told of the Greek return journeys. The poem was attributed by some ancient writers to Arctinus of Miletus, who lived in the 8th century BCE. It was composed in two books of verse written in dactylic hexameter. The Ilioupersis is now lost, with only fragments and references surviving in later works.
