About “The Same Subject Continued: The Insufficiency of the Present Confederation to Preserve the Union”
Federalist No. 20 is an essay written by James Madison, the twentieth in a series known as The Federalist Papers. It was published on December 11, 1787, in The New York Packet under the pseudonym Publius, which was used for all the essays. The essay discusses the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation in governing the United States and is the final of six essays on this subject.
