About “People of the Earth”
North America's Forgotten Past is a series of historical fiction novels written by W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O'Neal Gear. Published by Tor, the series began in 1990 with People of the Wolf and explores prehistoric North American cultures. The first four books follow a linear narrative, beginning with the migration of Siberian peoples into Canada and Alaska and ending with the Mississippian culture around 1000 AD. Each novel focuses on different time periods, locations, and characters. Later books cover diverse settings, such as tropical Florida in the 6th millennium BC and the Chaco Empire in the 13th century AD. The series incorporates archaeological findings, including the discovery of Kennewick Man and the coastal-route migration theory. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
