About “Le Quart Livre”
Le Quart Livre is a novel by François Rabelais, published in its final form in 1552. It is a sequel to the adventures of Pantagruel and was written amid significant challenges, particularly after the publication of The Third Book and the opposition from theologians at the Sorbonne. Rabelais received support from Cardinal Odet de Coligny, which helped the work overcome censorship attempts. The book was quickly successful. The prologues reflect the polemical environment in which the novel was written and published. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
