Ziggy is the adopted son of two sexually abusive men, from whom he escapes into the world of his uncle, an amoral man who produces violent pornography. As he witnesses scenes of intense sex and sadistic control, Ziggy develops an improbable romantic attachment to his best friend, a drug user. Dennis Cooper's novel explores themes of alienated youth, voyeurism, and twisted desire, focusing on emotional and physical horrors.
