Margaret and Casey grow uneasy when their botanist father spends all his time locked in the basement among his bizarre plant experiments. He has started acting strangely, wearing a hat indoors and craving plant food, and green leaves seem to be sprouting from his skin. The kids begin to wonder whether the thing in the basement is really their dad.
