About “Death of an honest man”

Police sergeant Hamish Macbeth tries to warn newcomer Paul English that nobody loves an honest man, but Paul insults nearly everyone in Lochdubh and nearby Cnothan, from the minister's wife to a mystery writer to Hamish himself, until someone finally kills him, leaving Hamish, now without his clumsy policeman Charlie, to find the murderer among a bewildering array of suspects.
