About “The Roaring Trumpet”
"The Roaring Trumpet" is a fantasy novella written by American authors L. Sprague de Camp and Fletcher Pratt. It is the first story in their Harold Shea series and was first published in the May 1940 issue of the fantasy pulp magazine Unknown. The story was later included in the 1941 collection The Incomplete Enchanter, which also contained its sequel, "The Mathematics of Magic." It has been reprinted in several collections over the years and translated into Dutch and Italian. In 2016, the novella was shortlisted for the Retro Hugo Award for Best Novella.
