About “Have Spacesuit--Will Travel”

A science fiction novel for young readers by American writer Robert A. Heinlein, originally serialized in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction in August, September, and October 1958, and published by Scribner's in hardcover the same year. It is the last of the Heinlein juveniles. The story follows Clifford "Kip" Russell, who enters an advertising jingle writing contest hoping to win a trip to the Moon. Instead, he receives a used space suit, which he names "Oscar." After attempting to return it for a cash prize to help pay for college, Kip puts it on for one last walk. While idly broadcasting on his shortwave radio, he is answered by a girl calling herself "Peewee." A flying saucer then lands near him, and he is captured along with Peewee and an alien being known as the "Mother Thing," taken to the Moon.
