About “The Clocks”

Sheila Webb, a typist-for-hire, arrives at 19 Wilbraham Crescent in the seaside town of Crowdean for a new job. She finds a well-dressed corpse with five clocks around it. The blind owner of the house, Mrs. Pebmarsh, denies ever contacting Sheila's agency or knowing her by name. She also denies owning so many clocks. Neither woman recognizes the victim. Colin Lamb, an intelligence specialist working near the naval yard, is present when Sheila makes the discovery. He knows only one person who can solve such a strange crime—his friend and mentor, Hercule Poirot. This is a 1963 novel by Agatha Christie.
