Martha Wells, known for her rich fantasy worlds and deep characters, wrote the 2005 novel that concludes the Fall of Ile-Rien trilogy. The story follows Tremaine Valiarde as she searches for a way to stop the Gardier from taking over Ile-Rien. She discovers a new world with dangers and possible allies. With help from her father, Nicholas, and a group of brave heroes, she tries to recover the magical city of Lodun. The enemy is strong, but a secret portal offers hope. The portal leads to a mysterious ruin behind the Gate of Gods, a place of both wonder and danger.
