Ilium is a 2003 novel by Dan Simmons, the first book of a two-part epic from the author of the Hyperion Cantos. From Olympos Mons on Mars, Zeus and the gods observe the Trojan War, watched also by Thomas Hockenberry, a resurrected twenty-first-century professor tasked with spying on Olympos and destroying the goddess Pallas Athena, while on a changed Earth, a man named Harman seeks to explore beyond his world's boundaries.
