About “Calculated Risks”
The tenth book in the InCryptid series follows Sarah Zellaby, a telepathic ambush predator and adopted Price cousin. After being kidnapped and manipulated by her birth family, she undergoes a transformation called an instar, drawing on her Apocritic origins to change. Though she appears the same, she is far more powerful and harder to control. She is now stranded in another dimension with a few allies who don’t recognize her, including her cousin Annie and her maybe-boyfriend Artie, who have forgotten their relationship. She must also deal with cuckoos who want her dead. Sarah struggles with her new identity and the question of who she has become. She faces the challenge of bringing the people she loves home, even if they have forgotten her.
