About “Great Deliverence”
A baby's cry is said to echo through Yorkshire's Keldale Valley, tied to a legend of an infant smothered by villagers three centuries earlier during Cromwell's raids. In the present, Inspector Thomas Lynley and Sergeant Barbara Havers investigate the decapitation murder of Roberta Teys's father, for which Roberta, found beside the body, confesses but then refuses to speak further, despite the local priest and villagers believing her innocent.
