Joe Pitt is a vampire who has lost his job and is running out of money and blood. He relies on both to survive, using money to buy blood and drinking it to stay alive. To get both, he takes a job with the local Vampyre Clan. A new drug is causing vampires to have violent reactions, and Joe ends up fighting one of them. He begins investigating, following leads and getting involved in dangerous situations. He is being manipulated by someone, and he travels through the city to find out who it is. Joe plans to confront the person responsible when he finds them. This is a 2006 novel by Charlie Huston.
