Phssthpok the Pak had been traveling most of his 32,000 years on a mission to save, develop, and protect a group of Pak breeders sent into space some 2.5 million years before. Brennan, a Belter and smuggler from an anarchic asteroid-belt society, sought to intercept Phssthpok's ship before other Belters could, and was never seen again by those alive at the time.
