After a man is murdered in the alley behind her place, Hannah is dismayed when his spirit appears asking for help. FBI agent Dallas Samson takes a passionate interest in the case because the victim was a colleague whose death is tied to a smuggling ring called Los Lobos, the wolves. Unaware that Dallas has abilities of his own, Hannah calls her cousin Kelsey O'Brien, a member of the FBI's Krewe of Hunters.
