About “Lucien Leuwen”

Lucien Leuwen is a novel by French author Stendhal, published in 1894, though it was written in 1834. It is Stendhal's second major novel, following The Red and the Black, which was published in 1830. The novel remained unfinished due to the political environment of the July Monarchy in the 1830s. Stendhal feared losing his government position if his work offended the administration. The story was not completed during his lifetime. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
