About “Triplanetary”
Triplanetary is the first book in E. E. "Doc" Smith's Lensman series, originally published in Amazing Stories from January to April 1934. It was presented as a significant follow-up to the popular Skylark stories and was praised for its narrative power and scientific detail. The novel sets the stage for the larger Lensman saga, exploring the origins of a cosmic struggle between the Arisians and Eddorians. It also introduces the concept of humanity being selected to wield the power of the lens. Though not as fast-paced as later books in the series, it is considered a foundational work in science fiction. The novel was later recognized as a Hugo finalist for Best Science Fiction All-Time Series.
