About “On the Banks of Plum Creek”
Having left the prairie, the Ingalls family settles in Minnesota beside Plum Creek, at first living in a dugout carved into the bank. Pa borrows against a future wheat crop to build a fine new house and dream of prosperity. But homesteading brings hard surprises, from fierce weather to a relentless plague of grasshoppers that threatens everything they have worked for.
