The novel follows Cullen and Luna Bodman, who run a restoration shop and café, as they become entangled in the mysteries surrounding an antique steamer chest received from an anonymous source. Luna's investigation into the diary's origins strains her relationship with U.S. Marshal Christopher Gaines, but her intuition leads her to uncover a surprising modern-day connection tied to the chest's contents.
