About “Maigret and the Burglar's Wife”

Freddie, known to the police as "Sad Freddie" and to the newspapers as "the burglar on a bike," was a former safe installer turned independent thief. His final job was supposed to be a simple safe-cracking operation in a house in Neuilly, after which he and his wife planned to retire in the country. However, he discovered a dead woman with a blood-covered chest and a telephone in her hand. When Maigret investigates, he discovers the house belongs to an overweight dentist and his elegant, elderly mother. After a long and intense investigation involving psychological tactics, long interrogations, and plenty of alcohol, Maigret solves the case.
