About “Maigret and the Dosser”

A vagrant living under a bridge is attacked at night, sustaining a skull fracture and being thrown into the River Seine. Two bargemen rescue him from the water, and he is hospitalized in a coma. Chief Superintendent Maigret investigates the incident. One of the bargemen reports seeing two men leaving the area under the bridge and driving away in a red sports car. The victim's identity card reveals he was born in the same town as Madame Maigret's sister, giving her an opportunity to assist her husband in the case. The vagrant was once a doctor but has been living as a homeless person in Paris for years. Maigret is puzzled, as violence among the down-and-out community is rare. He must uncover what secrets lie in the doctor's past.
