About “Maigret at the Gai-Moulin”
The Gai-Moulin is a nightclub in Liege with crimson plush seats, wall mirrors, and marble tables. A jazz band plays as a couple dances and Adele tries to get a customer to drink. Two teenagers plan to rob the club but, while sneaking in the dark, they find a body—the foreigner who was seen talking with Adele. At first, the local police believe the case is closed, but new suspects emerge and old ones vanish. The body is later found at the Zoo, stuffed in a wicker basket. Inspector Maigret of Paris arrives to investigate, marking one of his most dramatic entrances.
