The Malory Towers series by Enid Blyton consists of six novels set at a girls' boarding school in England, following the experiences of students, particularly focusing on the dynamics within a form, or class. Each book highlights the relationships among the girls and their individual growth within the school environment. The series is based on Benenden School, where Blyton's daughter attended. The school relocated during World War II to the Hotel Bristol in Newquay, Cornwall. Darrell Rivers' name was inspired by Blyton's second husband, Kenneth Darrell Waters.
