About “Two for the lions”
Falco teams up with reptilian Chief Spy Anacrites to devise a plan that involves offering his services to Vespasian and Titus for the "great Census" of AD 73 as a tax collector. His goal is to earn enough money to join the middle ranks and marry Helena Justina. Alongside this, he searches for an eloped relative and hunts for an extinct herb. As he investigates, he discovers the death of a beloved lion and a rivalry between gladiator trainers. When a famous gladiator is killed, Falco is drawn into the case. His investigation leads him to Tripoli, where the killer has fled, and where he faces further danger.
