About “The River of Souls”
In 1703, in the Carolina settlement of Charles Town, professional problem-solver Matthew Corbett accepts a commission to escort a woman to a fancy dress ball, but becomes drawn into investigating the murder of a sixteen-year-old girl stabbed to death on a plantation. The suspected killer is an escaped slave hiding with family in a nearby swamp, and Matthew joins the hunt, journeying up the Solstice River, also called the River of Souls, where something born of the swamp joins the hunt and stalks the hunters.
