Published from 2009 to 2010, Maximum Ride: The Manga is a five-volume manga series based on the young adult science fantasy novel series of the same name by James Patterson. It follows a group of teenagers who are winged human-avian hybrids and can fly, led by Max, known as the Flock. The series centers on the Flock’s efforts to survive and maintain their freedom while evading the mysterious organization known as the School. When one of their members is kidnapped, Max must confront the School. The story explores themes of loyalty, survival, and the pursuit of freedom. The manga is an adaptation of Patterson’s original novels, which were inspired by his earlier works When the Wind Blows and The Lake House.
