When Maine game warden Mike Bowditch is assigned to eliminate invasive feral hogs in his district, he uncovers a dead infant in a shallow grave, with evidence indicating the child was the long-missing daughter of a woman believed to have died four years prior during a rafting trip. As Bowditch aids in the reopened investigation, he grows suspicious of his neighbors, suspecting they are hiding dangerous truths. When violence erupts near his home, Bowditch realizes his enemies are willing to go to any lengths to protect their secrets.
