The "Millennium" series is a collection of crime novels written by Stieg Larsson, David Lagercrantz, and Karin Smirnoff. Originally conceived by Larsson, a Swedish writer, journalist, and activist, the series began with the publication of the first trilogy in 2005, following his death from a heart attack. The series includes seven books released between 2005 and 2019. After Larsson's death, the publisher commissioned Lagercrantz to continue the series with a second trilogy and Smirnoff to write a third trilogy. As of December 2025, the series comprises eight novels. Larsson's work focused on themes such as social justice and right-wing extremism, and his journalistic background influenced his writing. The series has been adapted into films.
