About “Nate the Great and the Stolen Base”
Nate the Great is a series of 31 children's detective stories written by Marjorie W. Sharmat. The series began in 1972 with the book Nate the Great, published by Coward, McCann & Geoghegan. The first 20 books were illustrated by Marc Simont, and the last 10 were illustrated by Martha Weston, Jody Wheeler, or the Ivanovs, who worked in the style of Simont. Some titles were co-written by Sharmat's sister, her husband, or her sons. Sharmat has described her husband, Mitchell Sharmat, as her first editor and noted their happy collaboration.
