About “The Corvette”
The Corvette is a historical account of the French Navy's 20-gun corvette Diligente, the lead ship of her class, originally designed by Pierre Ozanne on private plans and noted for her exceptional speed. The French Navy adopted the design, which was replicated as late as 1848, and the ship was re-armed with heavier carronades after initial deployment with 6-pounder guns. Diligente remained in service, intermittently, until she was struck in 1854.
